Facebook and Instagram ads as well as search engine Pay Per Click, Display, retargeting and other digital advertising can be an effective way to reach audiences and market programs and initiatives.

To ensure consistent messaging, branding, voice and tone, and to make sure University departments aren’t bidding against one another, departments must seek Marketing expertise, consultation and coordination prior to developing or launching digital ads. This includes consultation with University Marketing prior to seeking third party advertising services.

Digital ads are set-up and run from official Winona State business accounts - Facebook, Instagram, Google Adwords. This requirement is in place to ensure that proper branding is utilized, as well as funding used for advertising is optimized and not artificially driving up ad bids for other WSU digital advertisements.

Only departments with official WSU social sites are approved to advertise via these accounts - meaning that MarComm has met with your department, discussed a social media strategy and has admin access, etc. Learn more about Official WSU social media accounts.
